Pavaka Wound Care Secures Exclusive License from The Ohio State University for Revolutionary Electroceutical Wound Dressing Technology

Jan 27, 2025

Columbus, Ohio – January 27, 2025 – Pavaka Wound Care, LLC, a pioneering biotechnology company dedicated to advancing wound management solutions, today announced an exclusive licensing agreement with The Ohio State University to commercialize a patented electroceutical wound dressing technology. Developed by leading researchers at Ohio State, this breakthrough innovation utilizes a tunable low-level electric field to disrupt bacterial biofilms and combat infections, including those caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, providing a transformative, antibiotic-free approach to treating chronic and acute wounds.

With over 6.7 million chronic wound cases annually in the U.S. alone—many complicated by antimicrobial resistance and biofilms accounting for 80% of infections—this technology addresses a pressing unmet need, potentially reducing healing times, lowering healthcare costs, and improving outcomes in human healthcare, veterinary medicine, and military applications.

"This licensing agreement with The Ohio State University marks a major milestone for Pavaka Wound Care, empowering us to lead the charge against antibiotic-resistant infections," said Brent Toto, CEO and co-founder of Pavaka Wound Care. "Backed by a strong intellectual property portfolio, including U.S. Patent No. 12,102,508 and associated applications, and complemented by an ongoing DoD-funded clinical trial, we are actively seeking strategic investors to accelerate commercialization and capture significant value in the rapidly growing advanced wound care sector."

The agreement enables Pavaka to leverage Ohio State's cutting-edge research for continued development, including clinical validation and scalable manufacturing in the state. This positions the company to redefine standards in wound care, with platform potential extending to fungal and viral conditions.

Pavaka Wound Care welcomes inquiries from visionary investors and partners interested in this high-potential opportunity. Investments will support rapid market entry, expand applications, and drive substantial impact in biotechnology.
